Physical Therapy is that
part of medicine
which is involved in
the prevention, assessment,
management and rehabilitation
of movement dysfunction.
It strives to restore functional
abilities to individuals who are
either permanently or
temporarily disabled by
illness, disease, trauma, or
congenital abnormalities.
This is accomplished by
decreasing the pain and
swelling in an area, and by
increasing the range of
motion in or at
a body part.
In podiatry such conditions
as Heel Spurs, Bursitis,
Plantar Fasciitis, Bunions,
Corns and Calluses are treated
with Physical Therapy on a regular basis.
Such modalities as hot packs,
massage, electrical stimulation,
ultra sound paraffin baths,
and diathermy are used by
the foot doctor to relieve
pain and swelling; and to
increase range of motion.
