Sometime today a patient will go to their physician and will be misdiagnosis with the terrible disease know as Peripheral Neuropathies. The story goes like this the patient   tells the doctor that their feet burn, hurt, are numb, or are tingling. It is common that without even looking at or examining the patient foot the physician will tell the patient they have Peripheral Neuropathies and start them on some medication.  Dr. Burton S. Schuler podiatrist, foot specialist of Panama City, Fl. says that hundreds of times aday maybe thousands this diagnosis is wrong.  It is not unusual for the physician to tell this patient they have Peripheral Neuropathies when they don’t. Peripheral Neuropathies are a group of serous medical condition most often caused by Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Peripheral Neuropathies is destruction or a breakdown on the nerves that run from the spinal cord to all over the body. In the foot Peripheral Neuropathies appear with burning, numbness, pain and tingling. But those exact problems appear with patient who just has some bad feet and not the terrible Peripheral Neuropathies. The problem arises because physician are trained to look for medical explanation for problem not for answers as simple as painful corns or callous

2. If you are a diabetic and have burning, numb, painful and tingling feet do not assume you have Peripheral Neuropathies because you were told so. The average diabetic will never get Peripheral Neuropathies. In order for a diabetic to get Peripheral Neuropathies they must have taken really bad care of themselves for about ten years. Again as a diabetic you should see a podiatrist yearly anyway and check out your feet. They can tell you if you have Peripheral Neuropathies or no.
